Hi to all my fans!
On Friday I finished my work in Rotherham by appearing at the Rotherham Book Awards and took great joy in awarding the Peter J Murray Creative Writing Award to non other than Callum Hudson (how amazing is a name like that!) of Brinsworth Comprehensive School. He wrote a dramatic account of a boxing bout that would put any national sports correspondent to shame. Well done Callum – hope you like the Bonebreaker t-shirt and signed copy of Scabbajack.
And now it’s Sunday and I’ve just arrived (ten minutes ago) at my most favourite holiday destination in the whole of the universe…The Isle of Wight…or as I prefer to call it…The Isle of Fright!
It’s the most beautiful place – especially when the sun is shining as it is now – and it’s also the perfect place to be for a spooky writer like me. There’s such a creepy atmosphere around the place and no wonder with so many hauntings on this ghostly island. This is why Kath and I prefer to stay at the Garlic Farm…all that garlic to keep the vampires at bay! We love the Garlic Farm. Colin Boswell and his wife, Jenny, always make sure we’re comfortable in one of their fabulous farm cottages…it really is the most amazing place. If ever you visit the Isle of Wight, make sure you go to the Garlic Farm. Would you believe that they even have garlic ice cream! (We haven’t dared try it yet!)
Well, we’ll finish unpacking and get ourselves ready to launch the Bonebreaker Trilogy and my new book, Scabbajack, on the unsuspecting Solent and Sandham Middle Schools. They are both superb schools – I visited them some years back and freaked them out with my Mokee Joe books. I’m also booked to pop in to St John’s Primary School at Sandown and they will meet Mokee Joe for the first time… aren’t they lucky??
Keep watching this space…there’s always a tale tell when Peter J Murray visits the Isle of Fright!

Hey Mr Murray,
I have this mirror in my bathroom and I can only just peep into it with just my eyes showing – I dont like to look in it now because it reminds me of Dawn Deamons ‘Peeping over the edge of the bed’!!! And I hate to admit it…I’m 13 and I still get pretty freaked out!
July 16th, 2010 at 5:57 pm
Scabba jack is amazing… i read it in three hours… i was glued to it. It is a great book, but very scary i had to put the book in my wardrobe so i could get to sleep! Im pretty scared now, but you have inspired me.

I probably will state Since when is public safety the root password to the Constitution or might possibly The source of the famous Golden Rule. Many famous lines were variations on this theme.
